Where do I Start?

I have been asked that question so many times from men who realize something is wrong, but are afraid or not ready to make a giant commitment toward addressing the dysfunction caused by the sexual abuse.  I can totally relate.

If you are thinking " I know I want to do this but just afraid to reach out and ask for help!" Let's try the following 5 steps below to gradually move you toward success of attending the retreat and healing.  If you haven't reached that level yet let's acknowledge a few things by clicking here!

1. Read the "Did you know" tidbits

T
hroughout the website you will find little "Did You Know" tidbits. You will often see the picture above to call out those sections.  These little factoids or insights are to help you realize that you are not alone and address many of the common thoughts, feelings, myths we experience as sexually abused men.

2.  Sign up for the bi-Monthly
HBM Newsletter

Take the next step towards healing by committing to receive the free bi-monthly newsletter. The newsletter is delivered in pdf format to your email inbox  every two months.  The purpose of the newsletter is to provide more detailed articles and information to help sexually abused men consider various insights and coping mechanisms.  Many of the men who subscribe mention the fact that the newsletter become extremely helpful after attending the retreat. 3. Listen to the posted radio shows
Adding on the next layer is credibility.  Let's be real here. Dealing with childhood sexual abuse for many guys is terrifying. It is often difficult to trust others because of the betrayal we experienced.

The posted radio shows provide you a chance and opportunity to become more familiar with Thomas' goal and style.  You hear his real voice and heart as he discusses and expounds on some difficult taboo subjects.  We really believe that in the
Christian community we have neglected addressing issues like childhood sexual abuse, especially for men.

We fail to see how it devastates lives and families.  We often miss that a percentage of the other dysfunctional behaviors, like pornography, substance abuse, domestic violence, suicide, etc...might have CSA as part of the root cause.   It's important for you to know more about this service.  You can listen in privacy. "I have been conducting retreats for over 10 years.  I have learned that everyone is not at the same stage of readiness for healing and addressing the sexual abuse.  It can be draining when individuals are not ready to be helped.  It's a pre-cursor for more hurt and pain.  Therefore at the retreat I work with men who are at the stage of " I want help" and who are looking for strategies, answers, and  support for integrating healing with their faith.  By listening to the podcast you get a better idea and show interest in healing

4.  30 Minutes Free Consulation

Make sure that you have listened to podcast  before scheduling your consultation so you are prepared.

You are almost there but you are trying to figure out if you want to make the investment in registering to participate in the retreat or you want to personally talk with Thomas Edward as a sounding board.  This consultation provides you an opportunity to share a bit of your story, to ask questions, to get a better feel if this is the right retreat for you.  This is crucial.  You can call or send email for setting up a time.  Please remember Thomas is on Pacific Standard time, include your time zone and several times to call.
